Description
This AUTOGRAPHED, FRAMED photo of Ron Francis #10 comes with a Certificate of Authenticity. Carolina Hurricanes player Sean Hill #22 is featured in the photo, but it does not include his autograph. Ron Francis was drafted fourth overall by the Hartford Whalers in the 1981 NHL Entry Draft. He played nearly ten seasons with the Whalers, serving as captain for almost six and setting nearly every offensive record in franchise history In March 1991, he was traded to the Pittsburgh Penguins along with Ulf Samuelsson and Grant Jennings in exchange for Jeff Parker, Zarley Zalapski and John Cullen. Less than three months later, Francis won the Stanley Cup with the Penguins. He spent seven seasons in Pittsburgh where he was captain of the team twice and was Pittsburgh's first Selke Trophy winner. Prior to the 1998-1999 season, Francis became a free agent and signed with the Carolina Hurricanes. He captained the Hurricanes to the 2002 Stanley Cup Finals. Francis finished his career with the Toronto Maple Leafs where he was traded to have one last opportunity to win the Stanley Cup. He retired from the NHL prior to the 2005-06 season. In 2006, the Hurricanes retired his number 10 jersey. In 2007, Francis was selected to be inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame. He has received numerous awards and recognitions including winning the Selke Trophy, Lady Byng Trophy, and King Clancy Memorial Trophy. In 2014, Francis was named the general manager for the Carolina Hurricanes. All proceeds benefit the Kids 'N Community Foundation, the Carolina Hurricanes charitable arm.
