Description

This jersey is a true piece of hockey history. It was worn by the legendary Gordie Howe "Mr. Hockey" for all Houston Aeros home games throughout the 1974-75 WHA season. Gordie came out of retirement in 1973 to join the newly formed World Hockey Association along with his sons Mark and Marty. He had immediate success, winning back-to-back Avco Cup titles and the 1973-1974 league MVP award. The 1974-75 season marked Gordie's final professional championship season. At the young age of 46, Gordie scored 99 points in 75 games, and added another 20 in the playoffs for good measure. Jersey budgets weren't what they are today, as this size 50 Rawlings jersey was worn for every single Aeros home game that season. It shows excellent game-use, meaning a lot of players throughout the league had to deal with a Gordie elbow or two. Stick/puck marks can be found mainly along the bottom of jersey (both sides) and a rip on the left sleeve. A "GORDIE HOWE" namebar can be found sewn on the reverse, as first names were used to differentiate between Mark and Marty's jerseys. An assistant captain "A" has been sewn on the front where some staining can also be found around the "AEROS" lettering.

This jersey comes directly from the Howe Family collection. The scarcity and opportunity cannot be understated when it comes to "Mr. Hockey" gamers. It has been photomatched to the 1974-75 season and comes with a Letter of Authenticity from both Mark and Marty Howe.

What is a Maximum Bid?

Your maximum bid amount is the highest price you are willing to pay for an item (subject to shipping and handling fees, plus applicable taxes). When you place your maximum bid amount, your bid will be processed in the designated bid increment amount above the current bid. If you are outbid, the system will automatically place bids for you at the bid increment until your maximum bid is reached. By way of an example, if an auction opens at $10 with a $1 bid increment and you place a maximum bid of $100, your bid will initially be processed at $11. If another bidder places a bid at $12, the system will automatically bid $13 for you and will continue up to your maximum bid amount of $100.
