Description

Welcome to the Edmonton Oilers Community Foundation 2014 Hockey Fights Cancer Charity Auction in support of the Kids With Cancer Society and charities across Oil Country! Show your support in the fight against cancer by bidding on this Ben Scrivens #30 - Autographed Edmonton Oilers Game Worn Vaughn Goalie Trapper & Blocker Set Used During His 59 Save NHL Regular Season Shut-out Record Game Vs The San Jose Sharks ! On this night hockey fans at the game and millions more watching at home were treated to an Oilers 3-0 home ice victory over the Sharks thanks to the spectacular goaltending clinic put on by Ben Scrivens. It was Scrivens' first shutout with the Oilers, his fourth of the season and the fifth of his career. The 59-save shutout over 60 minutes broke the NHL record for most saves in a shut-out previously held by Phoenix Coyotes goaltender Mike Smith, who made 54 saves in a 2-0 win against the Columbus Blue Jackets on April 3, 2012. He also set an Edmonton Oilers franchise record for the most saves in a game, surpassing the previous record of 56 set by Bill Ranford during the 1992-93 season. This set of white, black and silver custom made Vaughn goalie gloves are one of two sets worn by Scrivens during the game and is the pair that was worn during the first and second period only. They have been photo-matched to the second period of the game as shown in the auction listing action photo. Scrivens wore another set of gloves in the 3rd period which he was wearing at the time he registered the 59th and record setting save. Both gloves show moderate game use throughout and in addition to the record setting game they were used by Scrivens in action with the Oilers during the 2013-14 season upon his arrival from the Los Angeles Kings following a mid season trade up until his new Oilers gear arrived. Both gloves have his nickname "THE PROFESSOR" factory stitched on the cuffs. They have been nicely autographed in black marker on the front of both gloves by Ben and are now ready for display ! This great set of record setting puck stoppers from new Oilers goaltender will come complete with letter of authenticity from the Edmonton Oilers Hockey Club along with an Oilers Authentic Inventory Hologram attached to both gloves. Simply a must have for Edmonton Oilers goalie collectors!
