Description
This plaque displays two pinnacle artifacts of Gordie Howe's illustrious career. The first is his 801st career goal puck and the second is his final professional career goal puck.
Gordie scored his 801st NHL goal on April 6, 1980, during a game between his Hartford Whalers and the Detroit Red Wings. This was the final regular season game of the season for the Whalers and the last of Gordie's NHL regular season career. It set an NHL career goal record that has only been surpassed twice in the 43 years since (most recently by Alex Ovechkin).
His final professional goal was scored a few days later at the historic Montreal Forum on April 9, 1980. It came in the third period and was assisted by his son and teammate Mark Howe. On April 11, Howe played his final NHL game and set an record that may never be broken - playing at the age of 52 years, 11 days. Howe's final two goal pucks were put into this display by the Whalers and presented to Gordie at the end of the season. The plaque measures 12X15" in size and was recently on display at the Hockey Hall of Fame in Toronto from 2019-22.
Comes with Certificate of Authenticity from Gordie Howe's sons Mark and Marty Howe. Proceeds support The Howe Foundation.
