Support Matt Olson
In a show of support for Matt Olson, the Isanti, Minn., native who sustained a severe spinal cord injury last month playing junior hockey for the Chicago Cougars, the Minnesota Wild and Chicago Blackhawks are teaming up in a joint effort to raise funds to assist Matt and his family. The Wild and Blackhawks organizations have each donated several one-of-a-kind experiences that are rare and much coveted packages with the hope of raising money to assist Matt and his family with the mounting costs associated with this serious injury. Division rivals on the ice but allies in the community, the teams will dedicate their game on March 29th to Matt with the goal of raising significant funds for the family. Both teams will wear a special sticker on their helmets to show their support. Members of Matt’s family will begin the night by making the traditional “Let’s Play Hockey!” call. Matt’s story will be shared in game as well as information on how fans can bid and donate. Members of the Totino Grace hockey community will serve as program sellers, donating their proceeds to help the Olson family. Proceeds from the purchase of these incredible online auction items will benefit the Matt Olson trust fund.
