After 19 NHL seasons Ryan Smyth played his final NHL game on April 12th, 2014 versus the Vancouver Canucks. After helping the home squad to a 5-2 win and before hanging up his skates for the very last time Smyth took one final tearful skate around Rexall Place ice to the delight of the packed house and millions of Oilers fans watching at home. Although this is not the last puck used in the game which was given to Smyth this particular official Edmonton Oilers NHL Game Puck was used during the 3rd period of the game. Once the puck was put out of play at the discretion of the NHL on ice game officials working the contest it was then given to the NHL time keepers bench staff who promptly labelled it with the details of the game and period it was used on a custom made puck label which was then applied to the back of the puck. The puck was then given to Edmonton Oilers equipment staff immediately following the game for donation to our online charity auctions. Recently it was then autographed by Ryan Smyth and is ready for display in one lucky fan's collection! The puck is one of eight received by the team (not including goal pucks) following the game and will come complete with a letter of authenticity from the Edmonton Oilers Hockey Club and Edmonton Oilers Authentic Inventory Hologram applied to the back of the puck.
