He scored his first career hat trick against the Columbus Blue Jackets in 2012 and went on to win the Stanley Cup Championship with the Blackhawks in 2013. He represented Sweden in the 2012 IIHF World Championships. In 2014, he signed a contract with the Nashville Predators and was released to free agency in 2015. He signed a one-year contract with the New York Rangers for the 2015-16 season, then signed a one-year deal with the Carolina Hurricanes in July 2016. In February 2017, Stalberg was traded from the Hurricanes to the Ottawa Senators. Elias Lindholm was drafted fifth overall in the 2013 NHL Entry Draft by the Carolina Hurricanes.
