He saw limited playing time in the 1998-99 season, but saw an increase during the 1999-00 and 2001-02 seasons. In 2002, he was named to the Czech national team for the 2002 Winter Olympics in Salt Lake City, Utah. He started the 2001-02 season as a restricted free agent without a contract so he went to play for the Czech Extraliga. Ultimately, he signed a contract with Toronto that kept him with the team until 2005-06. On February 2006, Kaberle re-signed a five-year extension. In February 2011, Kaberle was traded to the Boston Bruins. He ultimately won the Stanley Cup in 2011 with the Bruins. In July 2011, Kaberle signed a three-year contract with the Hurricanes.
