This Military Appreciation Night AUTHENTIC Cam Ward #30 Carolina Hurricanes jersey was worn in pre-game warm-ups prior to the game against the St. Louis Blues on February 28, 2016. The jersey is autographed and comes with a Certificate of Authenticity. It is camouflage, size 58. Ward spent his junior career with the Red Deer Rebels of the Western Hockey League from 2000-2004. He was drafted in the first round (25th overall) by the Carolina Hurricanes in the 2002 NHL Entry Draft. Upon finishing his junior career in the WHL, Ward signed a multi-year contract with the Hurricanes and played for the Hurricanes? AHL affiliate at the time the Lowell Lock Monsters. He joined the Hurricanes for the 2005-2006 season in a backup role to goalie Martin Gerber. Ward completed his NHL rookie season with 14 wins and 8 losses and led the Hurricanes to a Stanley Cup victory in 2006. He became the first rookie goaltender to lead his team to the Stanley Cup since Patrick Roy in 1986 and the first rookie goaltender to win the Conn Smyth Trophy since Hextall in 1987. After his outstanding season, Ward became the Hurricanes starting goaltender for the 2006-2007 season. He was a member of the 2007 Canadian IIHF World Championship team that won gold against Finland and a member of the 2008 Canadian IIHF World Championship team that won silver against Russia. Ward was the first overall pick in the 2011 NHL All-Star Game Fantasy draft, selected by All-Star Game Captain, Eric Staal. He was also credited with an empty-net goal against the New Jersey Devils on December 26, 2011, becoming the 10th goalie in NHL history to do so. In the 2015-16 season, Ward posted a record of 23-17-10 with a 2.41 GAA. All proceeds benefit the Kids ?N Community Foundation.
