The National Hockey League and the National Hockey League Players' Association are conducting a unique auction of game-worn jerseys with proceeds benefiting the Garth Brooks Teammates for Kids Foundation.
The 2007 Teammates for Kids Auction features jerseys worn by all players on each of the 30 NHL team rosters during one select home game in January. Each jersey is authenticated with a one-of-a-kind embroidered patch - emblazoned with the NHL, NHLPA and Teammates for Kids “Every Game. Every Kid.” logo – and has been security-tagged, serial numbered and registered into the NHL-MeiGray Group Game-Worn Jersey Authentication Program. Each jersey comes with a Letter of Authenticity from the NHL and NHLPA.
The National Hockey League and the National Hockey League Players' Association, are proud to offer fans and collectors across the globe the opportunity to own a piece of history … … the actual jersey worn by #28, Brian Rafalski of the New Jersey Devils in their 4-3 victory over the New York Islanders on January 4, 2007.
This red jersey is a Size 52 and is registered into the MeiGray Game-Worn Jersey Authentication Program as number D04650.
In November 2005, the National Hockey League and National Hockey League Players’ Association jointly selected the Garth Brooks Teammates for Kids Foundation as the official children’s charity of the NHL and NHLPA. This league-wide alliance includes players from all 30 NHL Member Clubs and utilizes the League and Players’ Association’s full platform of marketing resources. The partnership focuses on the Top Shelf Teammates program, a division of the Garth Brooks Teammates For Kids Foundation, which contributes financial resources to non-profit organizations that benefit children's health, education and inner-city services. Since its inception, more than $1.5 million has been donated by NHL players. As a result of the NHL players’ involvement in the auction, the NHL has become the first professional sports league to achieve 100% athlete participation in the Garth Brooks Teammates for Kids Foundation.
The MeiGray Group Game-Worn Jersey Authentication Program (meigray.com) individually numbers, security-tags and markets the game-worn jerseys for 17 NHL clubs: Atlanta, Boston, Colorado, Dallas, Edmonton, Florida, Montreal, Nashville, New Jersey, NY Islanders, NY Rangers, Ottawa, Philadelphia, St. Louis, Toronto, Vancouver and Washington.
MeiGray has partnered with the NHL since October 2002 in the NHL-MGG Game-Worn Jersey Authentication Program. Game-worn jerseys of the 22 participating clubs from 2002-03 through 2005-06 can be found at nhlgameworn.com.
Since its introduction in October 2002, the NHL-MGG Game-Worn Jersey Authentication Program has donated more than 2,000 game-worn jerseys to its member teams and their charitable foundations throughout the United States and Canada. These jerseys have contributed to numerous charitable organizations in North America.
